'Twas the Night Before Mundane

What if it never happened? What if He never came? The real meaning of Christmas...the hope, the love, the power...would not be known. Because He came our lives have meaning, worth and significance. Because He came we can live lives that really matter. In a world without Christmas every day is meaningless like the last. In a world with it however, each day is a priceless, precious gift.

Into the Gray - October / November

Have you noticed that our nation is getting more and more polarizing? Democrat vs Republican. Blue collar vs White Collar. Chevy vs. Ford. It seems like we are almost drawn to these poles like iron filings to a magnet. In doing so though we leave out the healthy dialog of the middle ground...the gray area. This happens in church life too and it is unhealthy. In this series we are going to dive into that middle area and help bring unity to the faith. Join me "Into the Gray."

This message should incite some debate. You have the "wait on God" crowd and you have the "leap out in faith" crowd. Which approach is right? In this final message of the series we will wrestle with when to wait and when to leap.

Not a Fan - September

They paint their faces, buy the jerseys, know the stats of their favorite team or player, but they never get on the field of play. Fans. Many times church goers act more like fans than fully devoted followers of a risen Savior. In this series we will make a journey to leave the nose bleed seats of observation and join Christ on a journey of transformation.

From Fan to Follower

In this first week we lay the foundation of the nature of fandom and followership. Jesus says that to follow Him requires killing selfishness and embracing sacrifice. That is the nature of someone in the game, but not those in the stands. Are we really willing to leave the cheap seats to know the surrender and sacrifice of being in the game?

Knowledge or Intimacy

It is not hard to know about someone and not really know them. Fans know much about the stars or athletes they look up to, but don't know them intimately. If we are not careful we can do the same in our faith. We may know much about God, but don't really know Him at all. In this message we will begin to move from knowledge to intimacy in an authentic faith.

One Thing

He was the model of success; young, handsome, wealthy and quite upright in character. Yet, in his interaction with Jesus it was discovered that there was One Thing that held him back from really following Jesus. In this message we will do a personal inventory to see if there is a One Thing in us.

Portrait of a Follower

No one would pick her. Outcast, unclean, home wrecker and overall public embarrassment. But in this touching story we see the life changing power of real transformation contrasted with the cold 2 dimensional model of religion. Fan or Follower? The choice is ours.

Urban Legends - May

There are alligators in the sewers of New York. Drinking Coke and eating pop rocks can cause stomach damage. Mr. Rogers was a Navy Seal and trained sniper. What do these three stories have in common? They are all famous Urban Legends. An Urban Legend is a story that is patently false but has somehow taken on a life of its own in American culture. There are many "urban legends" surrounding Christianity and in this series we will debunk four of those myths.

Isn't this true? I just need to believe a few theological truths and I'm a Christian bound for heaven...right? Well, not according to the Bible. The truth is there is a wonderful blend between belief and behavior. Authentic belief will result in right behavior. God expects both.
